HEALING PROPERTIES OF ALMOND



DESCRIPTION
 
The seed coat consisted of leathery separable structure that IS hard and juiceless. It has a dual red color with dingy green tinged. As soon as the seeds are fully ripen, its green covering will dry and then split. The endocarp (rough shell) that enclosed them dropped out.

The shell has ovoid shape, with yellow buff color flattened in form. The outer surface of the shell has small holes. It has fibrous materials that sometimes thin and friable. The seeds showed rounded at one end and pointed at the other end covered with the corresponding coat.

The size of the tree is moderate more or less 30 feet high. It has branches that spread out evenly. The leaves are lance-shaped, serrated in its edges. The plants has characteristic to flower first before the emergence of leaves.

HERBAL APPLICATION

It considered demulcent. It has beneficial nutrients mostly required for healthy body. It is good remedy for constipation softening and relaxing the solids in the stomach. Good for bronchial disease in the lungs.

It was used for the relief of tickling cough, suppresses irritation and prevent hoarseness of voice due to inflammation caused by colds and flu. The prepared emulsion found to have the ability to soften and remove stones in the kidney, bladder and obstruction in the biliary ducts.

Good for the treatment of pleurisy.

 Excessive production of gas will result to colic. With the use of the plant, colic is prevented and gas formation is reduced. The use of oil makes hands and face smooth and soft. The oil cleanses spots and pimples of the skin. The oil can relieve chest pain due to heart trouble.

Putting in the temple will relax headache. Ointment preparation can restore clearness of sight. Almond butter has benefit to the heart, it relaxes the brain and liver complaints. The prussic acid of bitter almond found to cure intermittent fever. It serves as vermifuge. Bitter almond was used as aperient, diuretic and cure for hydrophobia.

HEALING PROPERTIES PF ANISE



DESCRIPTION
It is dainty, white flowered umbelliferous annual about 18 inches high, with secondary feather-like leaflets of bright green.

HERBAL APPLICATION

It serves as carminative and pectoral, good for cough and dry cough where expectoration is difficult. 

It was used as form of lozenges. 

The seeds were used for smoking to promote expectoration.

Volatile oil has beneficial action on the bronchial tubes.

 It is good remedy for bronchitis and spasmodic asthma. 

Oil with hot water is immediate palliative. 

Used for infantile catarrh. 

It is good remedy to prevent falling sickness (epilepsy).

It was used to prevent hiccups.

It served as stimulant and carminative.

Found to have ability to get rid of flatulent and colic.

 It diminished the griping of purgative medicines.

 Found to be of use for the prevention of convulsion.

The oil has preventive ability against insects.

 It served as good antiseptic.

 It was used for indigestion and troubled stomach.

HEALING PROPERTIES OF ONION



Onion was one of the spices in past centuries. It was used in many parts of the world. A menu is not complete without it. It was now become part of our meal preparation dueing the day. Many farmers entered into full production to sell to the market. It is profitable in raising onion. The demand is high because of its popularity among kitchen users. 

Sometimes the price goes higher than the normal price especially if there is shortage in supply due to changes in weather condition that most farmers feared reducing their expected harvest or there is total failure in planting.

Aside from being the best spices for food production, it was found that it has herbal benefits in some common illness of men. Each plant has each unique chemical compound. The chemical properties were the reasons for healing specific disease.

Its active sulfur compounds are allyl propyl disulphide and flavonoids (quescetin). The strong scented oil was due to sulfur. The tearing sensation (tears in the eyes) during the cutting of the onion is due to the compound called thioproanal S-oxide or lacrimatory factor.

Due to its anti-oxidant ability, the onion and its oil constituents can kill many kinds of microbes. Our body was resided by many forms of bacteria it may be good or bad. Most bacteria concentration can be found in the lungs and in digestive tract (intestines). The damaging microbes caused disease. Only better and potent kinds of medicines or herbal alternatives can neutralize its population and eradicate the threat.

The severity of the diseases depends on the degree of bacterial control to the human body. It can only be protected if the shield against various threats is effective. If the immune system is weak, damaging free radicals will invade. The immune system is the only protector for the bacteria to be neutralized. It is where onion is helpful for the added protection.

Allyl Propyl disulphide has the ability to block the breakdown of insulin by the liver. It stimulates insulin production by the pancreas. Such chemical interaction increases insulin and reduce the sugar levels in the blood those controlling diabetes.
It was the same sulfur compound that contains anti-inflammatory effect by inhibiting the formation of thromboxanes. It also inhibit the action of platelet-activity factor.

Onion can be prepared by the following:

-Direct application to skin inflammation and other skin diseases.

-It can be prepared as syrup acted as cough suppressant.

-It can also be prepared as herbal tincture.

Onion has the ability to relieve pain from insect stings. It neutralizes the venom. As anti-inflammatory, it has healing effect on boils.

To kill the germs from dog bites, it can be used as initial treatment so that the rabies, if there’s any can be suppress to enter into the interior of the wounds until such time that the victim is brought to the hospital for final treatment.

Onion has pungent smell. It is not good to be taken fresh in the mouth. It can cuse smelly breath. The usefulness of onion was already tested. The continuing research will uncover additional benefits of onion not yet discovered.

The popularity of onion will remain in our heart. We always remember it every time we are in the kitchen because the food we prepared has the taste of the spice we can’t forget.

HEALING PROPERTIES OF BACOPA


The plant grew in marshy land and other watery areas. It is a water plant commonly used in fish aquarium. Most of plant parts were found to have benefits in treating disease.
Bacosides and saponins are chemical compounds found in leaves of the plant that has therapeutic action against human diseases. It has diuretic or tonic properties that benefit the heart and nervous system.
It shield against the attack of convulsion. It was found to the problem of getting sleep or having insomnia. It leads to improvement of mental alertness and memory retention. HEALING PROPERTIES OF FENNEL

Fennel is a vegetable. It has a round white creamy bulb. It has short green stalks with leaves that is feathery green in color. It can be eaten raw. It is found in vegetable glass compartment in the supermarket. It is a specialty in other countries. It has a size of less than 2 pounds. A smaller fennel bulbs is best to use as it has a tender bulb and less fibrous. It is sold in the public market with the stalks still attached to the bulb.

Properties: phytonutrients, flavonoids (rutin, quercitin), kaempferol glycosides (anti-oxidant), anethole (volatile oil). Seeds contains petroselinic acid, oleic acid, tocopherols, trans-anethole, fenchone, limonene, camphor, alpha-pinene.

As stimulant to promote lactation and menstruation of women. Anethole can reduce inflammation and has an anti-cancer effect. It shut down the intercellular signaling system called tumor necrosis factor-mediated signaling, thus prevent the activation of a strong gene-altering and inflammation-triggering molecules.

HEALING PROPERTIES OF CARDAMON



This native herbs came from ginger family called Zingiberaceae. Cardamon known as Elleturia cardamonium. It is a perennial plants. It has a tall stem or cane that grow out of rhizomes. Indians in the forest was the home of this plant. The flower spikes produce white or pale green flowers. It has a green pod capsules containing less than 20 seeds, a small black in color and sticky in form. A ripe, dark and hard seeds with brown in color is the best quality seeds.

It has a very pleasant, aromatic and sweet fragrance.

Properties: Essential oils containing a-terpineol, myrcene, limonene, menthone, b-phlellandrene, cineol, sabinene, heptane, a-terpenylacetate, sabinene, limonene and borneol.

It relieves flatulence and indigestion. A tea has a soothing tonic after a heavy meals. Good for nausea and vomiting. It has the power to lower cholesterol. If taken regularly, a good aid in reducing weight. It has a carminative properties. Has a digestive action. Found to treat colds, fever, bronchitis. It has anti-inflammatory properties for infection. Helpful for the treatment of liver complaints. The chewed seeds is good to control bad breath giving a good flavor, freshness and coolness. Considered a decongestant for cold. It de-congest stuffy nose. The pyto-chemical cineole was the reason to break chest congestion. It boosts the entire central nervous system.
