HEALING PROPERTIES OF ALMOND



DESCRIPTION
 
The seed coat consisted of leathery separable structure that IS hard and juiceless. It has a dual red color with dingy green tinged. As soon as the seeds are fully ripen, its green covering will dry and then split. The endocarp (rough shell) that enclosed them dropped out.

The shell has ovoid shape, with yellow buff color flattened in form. The outer surface of the shell has small holes. It has fibrous materials that sometimes thin and friable. The seeds showed rounded at one end and pointed at the other end covered with the corresponding coat.

The size of the tree is moderate more or less 30 feet high. It has branches that spread out evenly. The leaves are lance-shaped, serrated in its edges. The plants has characteristic to flower first before the emergence of leaves.

HERBAL APPLICATION

Putting in the temple will relax headache. Ointment preparation can restore clearness of sight. Almond butter has benefit to the heart, it relaxes the brain and liver complaints. The prussic acid of bitter almond found to cure intermittent fever. It serves as vermifuge. Bitter almond was used as aperient, diuretic and cure for hydrophobia.

HEALING PROPERTIES OF LICORICE



Licorice is a plant of many uses. The plant has many chemical constituents, one ingredient to have healing power. The two major compound are glycyrrhizin and flavonoids. The first compound contains anti-inflammatory property to control the inside and outside inflammation in the body. It is best choice for the treatment of arthritic pain and rheumatism. It inhibits the breakdown of cortisol.

Its anti-viral compound has the ability to help control bacterial and viral infection. Damaging micro-organisms can be found everywhere inside the human body. It brings diseases and makes the body sickly. Skin, lung and digestive diseases were formed due to the proliferation of bacteria in the body. It can be prevented by the use of potent drugs and other known medicines. Its flavonoid and chalcones found to be effective to heal the damaged cells in the digestive tract.

It gives protection to the liver cells against damaging free radicals. The notorious Helicobacter pylori found to be the culprit in the development of ulcers and inflammation in the digestive tract and the rest of the stomach.

The chewable de-glycyarhizinated licorice tablet (DGL) can give the same effect using raw materials of licorice. Another licorice formulation is called standard licorice tablet that contains glycyrrhizin. It was normally used in the treatment of respiratory infection.

The DGL tablet was used in the treatment of ulcer especially those coming from duodenum. As anti-bacterial agents, it is best for the healing of canker sores and other gum problems. It was an effective mouthwash for bad breath.

To use licorice root capsules (6 grams per day) can give relief to chronic fatigue syndrome. If concentrated extract was used, 500 mg 3 times a day is enough.

Licorice tea was also available. To make tea, boil 14 grams of roots in 500 ml of water in the duration of 15 minutes. Drink 2 cups a day.

Herbal medicine has good and bad points. It has benefits and the risk. Side are common if application is not carried properly above the recommended dosage or the person is sensitive to the treatment or may affect his existing health conditions instead of healing them. For other people, taking licorice containing glycyrrhizin may increase blood pressure and cause water retention in the body.

 Taking 500 mg of it per day for about 1 week has effect by decreasing the serum testosterone levels of healthy individuals like men. The reaction is by blocking the enzyme important in the synthesis of testosterone.

Taking licorice has limitation especially for people that can’t tolerate such interaction inside the body. It is important to consult first with a doctor to determine  tolerance before taking any types of preparation.

HEALING PROPERTIES OF CHERVIL

It belongs to parsley family. Native in Western Asia. Used as culinary and medicinal properties. Chervil can be mix with fish, chicken and egg dishes. It is mild in flavor. It existed around 2,000 years ago. Easy to grow indoors. If outdoor, it should have a shade as protection from the heat of the sun. It can be planted by seed. It has a long taproot. Cultivated due to culinary purposes.

Properties: ethereal oil, methyl-cavicol, fatty acids

It has Vitamin A and C. Rich in minerals and vitamins, zinc, potassium, manganese, iron, calcium, phosphorus, copper, selenium, magnesium and vitamin B. It is good in the treatment of acne. Has a healing effect for eczema. It has the capacity to reduce inflammation of the body due to allergies. It can treat digestive and stomach problem as well as relieving stomach pain.

Used as tea. It can improve the circulation of the blood. It reduces the occurrence of cellulite. Good for the treatment of varicose veins and hemorrhoid. It reduces fluid retention during menstruation. It has the capacity to lower blood pressure. It can assist to patient with cystitis, kidney stones and bladder disorders.

HEALING PROPERTIES OF CORN SILK

A thin threadlike materials found at the end of the corn husk or a silky tassel running a length on the ear of corn. Its purpose is to collect pollen to fertilize the seed of the corn. Without our knowledge, corn silk has many other herbal uses for the treatment of health disease.

Properties: calcium, magnesium, potassium, phosphorus, iron, zinc, silicon, saponins, PABA, vitamin B, C and K, alkaloids, mucilage, volatile oils, allantoin, maysin.

Benefits:

Corn silk has a soothing effect in the remedy from acute inflammation and chronic irritation in the urinary tract (cystitis, urethritis, prostatis) in men. Good for bladder infection and urinary tract infection in children. Has ameliorative action and strong antiseptic by removing toxins in the body. Good in the treatment and reduction of deposit and irritation from the kidney including urinary bladder.

A herbal infusion by means of fresh and dried corn silk is the main preparation. In making a poultice, decoction from corn meal for direct application to the wound and sores.

Using silk in the cob is a good brew. The infusion is done by pouring a cup of boiling water to the corn silk to be infused for 5 minutes. It is then to be strain and ready for a drink.

In making a herbal drink, use 2 teaspoons of dried silk in making a cup of this health drink.
