HEALING PROPERTIES PF ANISE



DESCRIPTION
It is dainty, white flowered umbelliferous annual about 18 inches high, with secondary feather-like leaflets of bright green.

HERBAL APPLICATION

It serves as carminative and pectoral, good for cough and dry cough where expectoration is difficult. 

It was used as form of lozenges. 

The seeds were used for smoking to promote expectoration.

Volatile oil has beneficial action on the bronchial tubes.

 It is good remedy for bronchitis and spasmodic asthma. 

Oil with hot water is immediate palliative. 

Used for infantile catarrh. 

It is good remedy to prevent falling sickness (epilepsy).

It was used to prevent hiccups.

It served as stimulant and carminative.

Found to have ability to get rid of flatulent and colic.

 It diminished the griping of purgative medicines.

 Found to be of use for the prevention of convulsion.

The oil has preventive ability against insects.

 It served as good antiseptic.

 It was used for indigestion and troubled stomach.

HEALING PROPERTIES OF ONION



Onion was one of the spices in past centuries. It was used in many parts of the world. A menu is not complete without it. It was now become part of our meal preparation dueing the day. Many farmers entered into full production to sell to the market. It is profitable in raising onion. The demand is high because of its popularity among kitchen users. 

Sometimes the price goes higher than the normal price especially if there is shortage in supply due to changes in weather condition that most farmers feared reducing their expected harvest or there is total failure in planting.

Aside from being the best spices for food production, it was found that it has herbal benefits in some common illness of men. Each plant has each unique chemical compound. The chemical properties were the reasons for healing specific disease.

Its active sulfur compounds are allyl propyl disulphide and flavonoids (quescetin). The strong scented oil was due to sulfur. The tearing sensation (tears in the eyes) during the cutting of the onion is due to the compound called thioproanal S-oxide or lacrimatory factor.

Due to its anti-oxidant ability, the onion and its oil constituents can kill many kinds of microbes. Our body was resided by many forms of bacteria it may be good or bad. Most bacteria concentration can be found in the lungs and in digestive tract (intestines). The damaging microbes caused disease. Only better and potent kinds of medicines or herbal alternatives can neutralize its population and eradicate the threat.

The severity of the diseases depends on the degree of bacterial control to the human body. It can only be protected if the shield against various threats is effective. If the immune system is weak, damaging free radicals will invade. The immune system is the only protector for the bacteria to be neutralized. It is where onion is helpful for the added protection.

Allyl Propyl disulphide has the ability to block the breakdown of insulin by the liver. It stimulates insulin production by the pancreas. Such chemical interaction increases insulin and reduce the sugar levels in the blood those controlling diabetes.
It was the same sulfur compound that contains anti-inflammatory effect by inhibiting the formation of thromboxanes. It also inhibit the action of platelet-activity factor.

Onion can be prepared by the following:

-Direct application to skin inflammation and other skin diseases.

-It can be prepared as syrup acted as cough suppressant.

-It can also be prepared as herbal tincture.

Onion has the ability to relieve pain from insect stings. It neutralizes the venom. As anti-inflammatory, it has healing effect on boils.

To kill the germs from dog bites, it can be used as initial treatment so that the rabies, if there’s any can be suppress to enter into the interior of the wounds until such time that the victim is brought to the hospital for final treatment.

Onion has pungent smell. It is not good to be taken fresh in the mouth. It can cuse smelly breath. The usefulness of onion was already tested. The continuing research will uncover additional benefits of onion not yet discovered.

The popularity of onion will remain in our heart. We always remember it every time we are in the kitchen because the food we prepared has the taste of the spice we can’t forget.

HEALING PROPERTIES OF COMFREY

It is a perennial herbs with black turnip-like roots, hairy broad leaves with small bell-shaped, white creamy, pink and purple flowers. The rootstock is fleshy, branched, internally white, hairy stems grows up to 3 feet branching only on top.

Comfrey were traditionally used by the people in the past several centuries found to be abundant in the Asian countries that thrived good in a temperate climate. Later, it was found in other parts of the globe, in wet places, ditches, along the river banks, grassy places which they preferred. This herbs can stand erect reaching a height of one meter. It has a hairy features all over the plants.

Properties: allantoin, rosmarinic acid, symphyline, echimidine, isobaurenol, sitosterol, tannins, lasiocarpine, pylosterols, interpenoid (isobaurenol), phenolic compound, pyrolizidine, alkaloids,inulin, gamma-linoleic acid, saponins, beta-sitosterol.

Several centuries had passed, it was used as a good remedy for wounds and cuts using preparation to speed up healing. Application to the affected skin can expedite immediate wound healing. Its usefulness does not limit to repairing the skin tissue but also good in the healing of broken bones, fractures, bruises and burns and inflammation due to sprains.

HEALING PROPERTIES OF PARSLEY

It was cultivated 2,000 years had passed as folk medicine. It belongs to the family of Umbelliferae. It can easily adapt to any climate if raised throughout the year. It is a biennial plants (seeds) originated from Southern Europe. It has more than 25 varieties. The most popular varieties are flat-leaf parsley and curly-leaf parsley. Parsley is good for nutrition as garnish added in a menu (soups, vegetables, meat and other selected dishes). What they did is to wash thoroughly, chop it and sprinkle to favorite dishes.

Properties: myristicin, limanene, eugenol, alpha-thujene, flavonoids like apiin, apigenin, crisoeriol, luteolin.

It contains Vitamin C, iron, vitamin K, and A. Its volatile oils neutralizes carcinogen in the body and other harmful substances. It inhibits and prevent the formation of any tumor. Good for the prevention of lung disease. Its folic acid prevents the occurrence of colon and cervical cancer. It is good for the health of the heart. It converts dangerous homocysteine into a harmless molecules and protect strokes as well as heart attack.

HEALING PROPERTIES OF CHAMOMILE

It is a herb from Europe that comes from a flowering plants of daisy family. Using fresh and dried flowers to make tea and oil.

Properties:

(Oil) - azulene, chamazulene, pro-azulene, bisabolol, farnesine, pinene, anthermal, sproether, angelic acid, sesquiterpenes.

(phytonutrients) - flavones, glycosides, bitter glycosides, valerianic acid, tannins, salicylic acid and coumarin derivatives.

Side effects: Using the tea over the recommended dosage or its frequency of use can cause drowsiness, vomiting or have skin irritation It induces abortion. It is a blood thinner. Using the same properties with the modern medicine has risk.

HEALING PROPERTIES OF TARRAGON

Oil

Essential Oil is extracted through distillation of its leaves and flowering tops to make properties like cineol, estragole, ocimene, phellandrene as components in making an essential oils.

Properties:

(oil) - anti-rheumatic, aperitif, digestive, deodorant, emmenagogue, stimulant, vermifuge.

(Chemicals)- estragole (methyl chavicol), ocinene and phellandrene, cineol

Good for the improper circulation of the blood in the limbs. It is also helpful in the removal of toxins and the presence of uric acid. It enhances the secretion of digestive juices in the stomach for the purpose of increasing appetite to eat. Help to carry out in the distribution of all the nutrients, enzymes, hormones and oxygen throughout the systems of the body.

Stimulate secretion of digestive juices to speed up digestion by breaking down the food converting into different nutrients. It inhibits the growth of bacteria in the skin keeping odors away from the body.

Pour 1 tablespoon of tarragon leaves to 1 cup of boiling water for 10 minutes. Drink it daily as a tea.

Pour 1 ounce of tarragon leaves to 1 quart of boiling water and stand it for 10 minutes, strain, then drink for the removal of parasites in the stomach.

Chew leaves for hiccup.

Inhalation of dried leaves in 2 to 3 cups of boiling water is a good treatment method for insomnia, depression and headache.

Crushed leaves and its application to small cuts in order to fight bacteria.
